Americans are the most religious believing, but have the least religious knowledge.

This is amazing.

The United States is the most religious nation in the developed world, if religiosity is measured by belief in all things supernatural -- from God and the Virgin Birth to the humbler workings of angels and demons. Americans are also the most religiously ignorant people in the Western world. Fewer than half of us can identify Genesis as the first book of the Bible, and only one third know that Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

I somehow find this incredibly hilarious, and strikingly depressing.
How is it that we can believe in something we know nothing about?

Wait, lemme rephrase that.
Why have we perpetrated a culture that makes it okay to believe in something that you know nothing about?

And it isn't isolated to Religion, but also with political opinions, and events in the world (refer to previous post). We believe what we see, without question.
